Privacy policy

1. Who we are

Meridian Guides is an independent digital publisher of ranked local business directories in Malaysia. This policy covers the website at meridianguides.my. Each directory we publish is a separate property with its own privacy notice.

2. What we collect

We collect two kinds of information, and both are limited.

Information you send us

If you use the contact form or email us, we receive what you choose to send: your name, your email address, the reason you selected, and the content of your message. The form does not ask for a phone number and we do not want one.

Analytics information

We use website analytics to understand which pages are read and how people arrive. This produces aggregate information such as page views, referring sites, approximate location at city level, and browser type. It is not used to identify you personally, and we do not build advertising profiles.

3. What we do with it

• To answer your message, and to action a correction or removal request.
• To keep a record of a correction or removal so it is not silently reversed later.
• To understand which pages are useful, in aggregate, and improve them.

We do not send marketing email. We have nothing to sell you, so there is no list to be added to.

4. What we do not do

• We do not sell your personal information.
• We do not pass your enquiry to a listed business. We are not a lead marketplace and we do not route enquiries.
• We do not telephone or message you. We have no phone number and no WhatsApp.
• We do not use your message to influence any ranking.

5. Business listing information

Listings on our directories are compiled from public sources: information about a business that is already published where customers can find it. This includes business names, publicly listed contact details, category, and area served.

If you are a business owner and want a listing corrected or removed, email hello@meridianguides.my with your business name, the directory it appears on, and what is wrong. Removal requests are honoured and a removed business is not penalised. The target for a standard request is five business days, and legal requests are handled faster. 6. How long we keep it

Contact form submissions and emails are kept for as long as needed to handle the request and to keep a record of what was changed and why. Analytics data is retained in aggregate.

7. Who processes it

Contact form submissions are handled by a third-party form processing service, which passes the message to our inbox. Our website is served by a static hosting provider. Analytics is provided by a third-party analytics service. These providers process data on our instructions.

8. Your rights

You may ask us to:

• Tell you what personal information we hold about you.
• Correct anything that is wrong.
• Delete information we hold about you.
• Remove a business listing that concerns you.

9. Cookies

We use only what is needed to run the site and to collect aggregate analytics. We do not use advertising cookies or cross-site tracking. Your browser can be set to refuse cookies, and the site will still work.

10. Children

This site is not directed at children, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them.

11. Changes to this policy

If this policy changes, the updated version appears on this page with a new date at the top. Material changes will be stated rather than made quietly.
