Corrections, disputes and removals

One email address handles all three. What to send, where to send it, and how long it takes.

Email hello@meridianguides.my. That address handles corrections, disputes and removals for every directory we publish. There is no form to fill in, no account to create, and no reference number to quote.

What to include

Three things, and a request with all three can be actioned without a reply first.

  1. Your business name, as it appears on the listing.
  2. Which directory it appears on. There are seven, so naming the one saves a round trip.
  3. What is wrong, and what it should say instead.

An email that says only that a listing is wrong needs a reply before anything can be done, which costs you a day for no reason.

How long it takes

  • Standard requests: five business days. That is the target for corrections, removals and disputes.
  • Legal and urgent requests: faster. Mark the email clearly and include the specific content at issue and the basis of the complaint.

Note that five business days is quicker than the monthly re-check, so you do not need to wait for the next cycle to get a wrong detail fixed.

Removals

Removal requests are honoured. Say that you want the listing removed and it is removed.

Three things worth knowing about removal.

  • A removed business is not penalised. Removal is not recorded as a mark against you, and it does not affect any other directory we publish.
  • You do not have to give a reason. Some owners do not want the extra calls, some are winding down, and some simply prefer not to be listed. None of that needs explaining.
  • It is reversible. If you want the listing back later, ask, and it goes back.

Businesses that have closed

A business that has ceased trading is removed automatically at the monthly re-check. Nobody has to report it. If you would like it off sooner, email us and it is handled on the standard timescale.

Disputing a score

This is the request we get asked about most, so here is the honest position.

We will not adjust a position by hand. Not as a favour, not as a goodwill gesture, and not as an apology for a mistake elsewhere. The score follows public reviews under a published method, and a manually adjusted position would make the entire ranking meaningless.

What we will do:

  • Check the underlying data. If the score is drawing on reviews for a different business, or on a duplicate listing, that is a data error and we will fix it.
  • Look at a review you say is false. Tell us which one and why. We cannot remove a review from the platform where it was written, because it is not ours to remove, but we can look at the source and take account of what we find.
  • Explain the weighting. If you want to know why your position is what it is, ask. The method is published on how we rank businesses, and we will point at the part that applies to you.

The route to a better position is the reviews. Scores refresh monthly and recent reviews carry more weight than old ones, so a business that fixes what customers were complaining about climbs within a cycle or two. That is slower than a phone call, and it is the only route there is.

A wrong or missing business

If a business is missing from a directory it should be on, tell us and we will look. Listings are compiled from public sources, so a business with little public presence in a category can be missed.

Being added does not cost anything, and being added does not come with a position. A newly added business is scored the same way as every other, which for a business with few public reviews usually means a modest starting position.

What we cannot do

  • Remove a customer's review from the platform where it was written.
  • Move a business up on request.
  • Confirm or verify a licence, accreditation or insurance. We do not check these.
  • Act as an intermediary between a business and a customer in a dispute.

Questions about corrections

How do I correct or remove my listing?

Email hello@meridianguides.my with your business name, the directory it appears on, and what is wrong. The target for a standard request is five business days, and legal requests are handled faster. Removal is honoured, and a removed business is not penalised.

Someone left a false review that hurt my score. What can I do?

Email us the details. The score follows public reviews, so we can look at the source. The fastest honest way to improve a score is to serve customers well and let the reviews follow.

I disagree with my score. Can you change it?

Not by hand. The score follows public reviews under a published method, and adjusting a position manually would break the only thing that makes the ranking worth reading. If you believe the underlying data is wrong, tell us which reviews and why, and we will look at the source.

How are legal requests handled?

Faster than the five-business-day standard target. Mark the email clearly as a legal request and include the specific content at issue and the basis of the complaint.
